In Israel, most women who terminate a pregnancy do so for socio-economic reasons. A woman may want to keep her baby, yet challenging personal and financial circumstances leave her feeling that she has no choice but to end her pregnancy, without knowing that support is available.
“I can’t imagine bringing my child into this world without being able to provide him with a bed to sleep in,” the woman tearfully explained to the EFRAT volunteer. The volunteer was horrified. “It is unthinkable,” she said, “that a life will be lost because of a crib.”
To provide women with practical help on the arrival of their baby and over the first two years of the baby’s life. Thousands of women have chosen to keep their pregnancy thanks to this reassurance of concrete support.
EFRAT considers each individual’s financial circumstances and based on clear guidelines, provides practical help as needed, delivering packages directly to homes throughout the country, in the form of:
YAD CHAVA BABY EQUIPMENT
Following the baby’s birth, a mother receives baby equipment as required, including a crib, mattress, baby bath and stroller (a double-stroller if needed). All supplies are new and of high quality, providing peace of mind regarding the baby’s immediate needs.
YAD CHAVA was initially established in the memory of Chava Rafaella Kramer-Muller A”H by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jean Claude and Debbie Muller of Antwerp, Belgium.
A kit of essential supplies for a newborn girl or boy is sent to a new mother as required. The kit contains new, high quality items, including: linen and blanket set, clothing, diapers, wipes, muslins, pacifiers, pacifier clip, bottles and bottle cleaner, bibs and more.
MONTHLY BABY PACKAGE
As required, packages of diapers and wipes are provided monthly, up until the baby’s second birthday, removing a large financial burden from the mother’s shoulders.
MONTHLY FAMILY FOOD PACKAGE
As required, monthly packages containing a variety of staple food products are assembled at EFRAT’s warehouse and delivered to families in locations all over the country.
